Bodily Parts

SUMMARY: Knee hangs in there; thumb better.

Although my knee was quite puffy for our physical therapy appointment on Tuesday, in fact the pain and stiffness levels were quite low, and I was able to do 10 minutes on the exercycle easily (had been doing half an hour or more daily before the Nationals). I ran Tika in class last night without a lot of easing up for the knee, and it still felt great (at least, comparatively) this morning, so I ran Boost in class today, too. Still feels pretty good, and the swelling is down considerably.

I can walk normally except when wearing the big ol' knee brace, which rather forces me into a bit of a limp, and I found that I didn't want to push it in class either last night or today, so although I got some decent practice in, it's still not full speed, which is what I really need to work on with Boost in particular. Although pulling off of jumps because I stop even though I've given the command and keep my arm and shoulders pointed is something we can practice without tremendous speeds, I think.

Some of us from our Thursday class are going to try renting the field Sunday morning to do some practice. If the knee keeps feeling good and the weather holds up, every little bit will help.

The left thumb that was swollen and painful and wouldn't bend on Monday was much better on Tuesday, but it sported a very raised, 1/8" translucent lump on the back of the first joint, making me think that I got bitten by something that resulted in the swelling. Never felt anything, don't know what it could have been. It's a bit worrisome that my body reacted that way. Is it an allergic reaction to something? Doesn't seem like the usual mosquito bites, to which I seem to be having more and more of a reaction over time.

Life is so full of opportunities to discover new an unusual properties of one's all-too-human body--
