8:04 P.M. Eighteen Years Ago Today

SUMMARY: And where were YOU?

The Loma Prieta earthquake struck. Can you believe that there will now be people old enough to vote who weren't born when it hit? When I have a little time--not today--I'll post some memorabilia from that little episode in Bay Area history.

(Later: Here's the additional post with lots of commentary.)

I was in Chicago deciding whether I wanted to go to grad school in Berkeley or Boulder. I chose Boulder ;-).

Huh. If you'd chosen Berkeley, maybe right at this very moment you'd be living here, in this hotbed of dog agility. AND you'd have conveniently missed the big quake.
