On the Road to Scottsdale

I've been pondering Bing and Bob and Dorothy and wondering whether I've got the lyrics to get me through. I've also been pondering the ugly schedule on Wednesday and trying to get to Scottsdale on time (enough earlier than noon to find the registration tent and register).

So I got to thinking, if we really get on the road by 8 am (our current plan), we could actually maybe make it to Scottsdale before midnight the same day (with stops for meals & potties and such). That's a long haul, though, and it might not be a relaxing drive. As to the alternative, I'm just not sure what we'd do about sleeping Tuesday night on the road and arriving in Scottsdale by 11ish.

On the other hand, I'm thinking seriously about blowing off the wednesday afternoon class, although both dogs are signed up for it. It was only $10 entry fee each, and it just seems like it's going to make my wed. really stressful and rushed. Argh argh argh I hate making decisions like this!

Either way I have to figure out where we're going to spend the night tuesday night--

So I conferred with my fellow traveler and we're going to go for it! Here to S in one day. The hotel still had our room available for Tuesday night the 8th, so now it's more like Gumball to Scottsdale.

THE ROAD TO SCOTTSDALE (some apologies to Bing Crosby but not too many because so far I haven't figured out how to rewrite the lyrics so that they make sense)

We're off on the road to Scottsdale
This minivan is tough on the spine (hit me with a band-aid, Dad)
Where they're goin', why we're goin', how can we be sure
I'll lay you eight to five that we'll meet Dorothy Lamour (yeah, get in
line)

Off on the road to Scottsdale
Hang on till the end of the line (I like your doggie. Quiet)
I hear this venue's where they do the weaves of the seven rails
We'd tell you more (uh-ah) but our doggies are wagging their tails (good
boy)

We certainly do get around
Like a thousand other loonies, we're Scottsdale bound

We're off on the road to Scottsdale
Well look out, well clear the way, 'cause here we come
Stand by for a concussion
The dogs eat fire, sleep on nails and chew their leads in half
It seems to me there should be easier ways to get a laugh
(shall I slip on my big cleats?)

Off on the road to Scottsdale
Hooray! Well blow a horn, everybody duck
Yeah. it's a green light, come on boys

We may run into knocked bars but we're not afraid to roam
Because we read the story and we end up safe at home (yeah)
Certainly do get around
Like a zillion other loonies we're Morocco bound

We certainly do get around
Like a complete set of Shakespeare that you get
in the corner drugstore for a dollar ninety-eight
We're Scottsdale bound

Or, like a volume of Omar Khayyam that you buy in the
department store at Christmas time for your cousin Julia
We're Scottsdale bound
(we could be arrested)
Complete list of labels
